FEED THE HUNGRY (Short Skit for Elementary aged Students as a suggested Kick-off Activity)

Who Sez Kidz Can't?

Skit opens with Actor # 1 running around displaying a Headline saying

YOUR Elementary Students Raises $1500.00 to help feed the Hungry!

Actor # 1(repeatedly and persistently says: "Hey, Hey, Hey did you see this ? Woe take a look at this ! Read the headline in today's (YOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER)?

Actor # 2 (persistently resisting Actor # 1's advances) says: "NO!NO NO! Get outta here, And who cares about what's in today's paper especially if it's about kids. Anyway, It's always something negative or bad, Kids tear down, tear up bang up beat up or blow up never any good news about us on anything!"

Actor # 1: "Well feast your eyes on this!"

Actor # 2 says( as he turns his face away from the Newspaper that actor #1 is trying to force him to look at): "Don't Bother me, with the line about something good in the newspaper! There's never any GOOD NEWS in the newspaper! (sarcastically) I'll Bet you can't even find the word good in the paper!"

Actor # 1: (Running Around and Around in circles as #2 avoids looking) "Will you please look! It's about These Kids here at YOUR Elementary School! They raised over $1,500 Dollars to feed the hungry right here in YOUR county! That's Incredible!"

Actor # 2:) "Kids can't do that! What did they do sell a zillion boxes of candy (laughs derisively) or (name any of a number of other products that are sold in fundraisers)"

Actor # 1: "Who Sez Kidz Can't ? In fact they didn't sell anything!"

Actor # 2: "Impossible!, little kids can't raise that kind of money without selling something! They don't have jobs and their allowances are so small they can't afford to give very much. they're just too itsey-bitsey and teeny weeny to do that kind of major fundraising! That's a lot of Moolay Coolay! (slang for money!)"

Actor # 1: "They just buckled down for a few weeks in school and did their work everyday and got pledges from at least 1 person at home for doing what's called a school success-a-thon?"

Actor #2 : "A School Suc.. What . a thon?"

Actor # 1: A School Success-A-Thon that's what , and we're going to have one right here at YOUR ELEMENATRY

Distribute School Success-A-Thon CAST-A-NOTE postcards and explain how each student in YOUR school can help make a difference by pledging to work extra hard in school over the next 4 weeks!
